New Stoke City Signing ‘Man United Quality’

Former Spurs boss Martin Jol has told Jose Mourinho to keep his eye on the progress of new Stoke City signing Ramadan Sobhi. The 19-year-old, who signed for Stoke this summer for a fee in the region of £5m, made his debut aged 16 and has gone on to make 71 appearances for the club, winning two league titles.

Jol, who is in charge of Egyptian side Al Ahly, sold Sobhi to Stoke City – but believes the winger is destined for better things. Sobhi scored five goals and assisted a further eight in 28 games for Al Ahly last season and Jol says his former player is one of the best players to come out of Africa and could be good enough to one day play for Manchester United.

“I sent a message to Jose Mourinho, who is in touch with me, asking him to keep an eye on Ramadan with Stoke City as he is a brilliant player and he can play at Manchester United after that,” Jol said.

“I tried to keep Sobhi in the team’s squad but he insists on the English Premier League chance.”

“I hope he will succeed in England and I will always support him there.”

It could be interesting to see how well Sobhi does at Stoke City. The Egyptian league is certainly on the up, so it may be worth sending scouts out to that area in order to see potential stars arise.

United certainly aren’t short of talented wingers though, and with a deal maybe in place for Mexican winger Hirving Lozano potentially joining after this summer’s Olympic games, it is highly unlikely Sobhi would interest Mourinho.
