Neville Backs Solskjaer In Judging Whether £150m Rated Star Is Right For United

Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville says he trusts manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s judgement on the future of Paul Pogba.

The midfielder has already indicated that he may look to leave Old Trafford in search of a new challenge, but the TV pundit thinks Solskjaer will know if Pogba is committed to the cause or not:

“They don’t have to keep any player. Manchester United are a better team when Paul Pogba plays but if players don’t want to be at the club – that doesn’t mean Pogba, he may want to be at the club – you have to get everybody onside and aligned with where you’re going.”

“Ultimately, that’s the first thing Ole had to do – to work out who was going to be ready for the club moving forward.”

Real Madrid and Juventus are the two teams reportedly keenest on recruiting Pogba, but neither has made a formal bid for the Frenchman.

United are said to value the World Cup winner at £150m, which would probably deter bids from either club, but the player could yet agitate for a move before the transfer window closes.

Solskjaer is believed to be keen to build a team around Pogba, but as Neville points out, there would be no point in doing that if the 26-year-old is not fully committed to the club.

The France international scored 16 goals and contributed 11 assists last campaign, but has been criticised for his lack of consistency.
