Mourinho reveals his transfer plans as the window nears closure

Jose Mourinho has expressed his desire to sign at least one more player this summer, with the transfer window closing in just under 2 weeks.

The Portuguese has previously said he would like to add two further signings, but in a recent interview he seems resigned to the fact that there is only time for one more deal to be completed.

United have signed Brazilian midfielder Fred for £50m as their only stellar signing so far, with Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant acting as back-up incomings.

And Mourinho seems as if he is happy to add just one more, telling beIN Sports: “I am confident I will get one, but I think two I am not going to get – which is not a drama.

“In every pre-season it happens the same, with every club, which is that the manager wants more.

“It’s our nature, you always want more for your team, but then club decisions are different and normally you don’t get what you want, which happened during all my career.

“So, if I get one player until the end of the market, that’s fine.”

Asked if he knows what his starting XI will look like next season, Mourinho said: “More or less, I know.

“It’s not going to be very different. We basically have the same players.

“The players we have bought – one is a goalkeeper cover, one is a 19-year-old kid, so in fact we have one new player, which is Fred.

“So, of course, our team is not going to be very different.”
