Mourinho fumes at Paul Pogba’s red card

Manchester United will be thrilled after beating rivals Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates on Saturday, but the game was marred by a red card to star man Paul Pogba, an incident Jose Mourinho says Pogba is “disappointed” by.

The red card means United will be without Pogba for their crucial Manchester derby clash next week, and although Mourinho showed no signs of anger towards the player himself, he did direct his frustrations at a number of Arsenal stars.

After Pogba’s challenge on Hector Bellerin, various Arsenal players surrounded the referee in order to help the cause in getting the Frenchman sent off – something Mourinho was not at all pleased about.

Mourinho said: “I didn’t see the tackle.

“I just know that Paul is frustrated and a bit disappointed with his [France] colleague [Laurent Koscielny] for his reaction, because everyone knows Paul is a clean player and it was not his intention.”

Mourinho was also left less than impressed after Koscielny was not sent off for hauling back Romelu Lukaku, pointing out the fact that various Arsenal players went to ground looking for fouls.

“I’ll leave for you [the media] the Lukaku situation with Koscielny and I’ll leave for you the Arsenal players on the grass.

“But I’ll probably be the same because the grass is absolutely beautiful. I think there is a desire to go for the grass!”

The boss also had some kind words for goalkeeper David de Gea, who produced some unbelievable saves.

“I told him after the match, what I saw today was the best from a goalkeeper in the world,” he added.

“You need the keeper to be there for you when the team needs him.

“The game was fantastic. If I was in the stands, if I was at home, I would be sad to see the game finish.

“In my case it’s different, because I want to win and I want the game to finish.

“We managed to start the game with intensity and with that desire to play in their half.”
