Jose Mourinho has labelled Marcus Rashford as “naive” following his sending off against Burnley on Sunday.
Rashford was sent for an early bath after 71 minutes at Turf Moor following a collision with defender Phil Bardsley.
The United forward reacted badly to Bardsley’s kick-out from the floor, pushing his head into the Burnley defender before a number of other players ran in to break-up the pair.
Bardsley saw yellow for his part in the altercation, however Rashford was shown the first red card of his career.
The sending off proved un-costly for United, who held on to their 2-0 lead for a comfortable win thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s first-half brace.
Emotions got the better of me, I shouldn’t of reacted like that. Sorry to everyone at the club and all the fans #MUFC pic.twitter.com/6UWnxd4yYo

But the result didn’t see Rashford escape the criticism of Jose Mourinho, who felt the Englishman was to blame for being provoked by the more experienced Bardsley.
“I don’t know what happened,” he told BBC Sport. “I would say it was naive. It was a kid and a very experienced man. Bardsley’s been in the game for 20 years and Marcus is a naive boy.”
Aside from Rashford’s red however, Mourinho says he was extremely pleased with his side’s performance.
He continued: “I think it was a very, very good performance with a result which was short.
“They played very well as a team, and there were very good individual performances and we should score many more goals. The result shouldn’t have been open until the last minute.”
