Mourinho Assures Youngsters Future

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has assured defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson that he has a future at Old Trafford. The youngster recently joined Wolves on a season long loan, which raised suspicion that he is not in Mourinho’s plans – but this has been quashed after the player himself said he had been told by Mourinho that there is a place for him in the future.

The left back spot at United is currently nailed on by Luke Shaw after the 21-year-old returned from a broken leg this season. This means that Borthwick-Jackson faces competition with not only him, but also the likes of Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young.

However, the 19-year-old has revealed that Mourinho is sending him on loan to further his development, with the long-term aim of seeing him succeed at the club.

Borthwick-Jackson said: “My aim is to play as many games as I can, get as much experience as I can with the hope to go back there and challenge for a spot in the team.

“Mourinho has told me I’ve got a future there, he sees a future for me. So that’s what I’m looking to do, gain experience and start there.”

“I’ve had interest from Premier League clubs and other Championship clubs but I wanted to come here [to Wolves] and help the club get back to where they belong, which is the Premier League. It’s exciting for me.”

“I just take everything in my stride, take it as it comes – that’s just the sort of person I am. I don’t get nervous before games, everything comes naturally to me.”
