‘Monitoring His Progress…’ Report Reveals United Could Hijack Chelsea’s Move For £88M Rated Striker

Manchester United remain in contention to sign Joao Felix, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan newspaper claim that the Red Devils are likely to be Chelsea’s main rivals for the Portuguese international and they are “monitoring his progress”.

Felix is believed to be keen on making his loan switch from Atletico Madrid to Stamford Bridge permanent but there are a couple of factors that could stop a transfer from going ahead.

Chelsea need to sell players to bring themselves in line with Financial Fair Play regulations and spending €100m (£88m) on Felix this summer may not be possible.

The lack of Champions League football is also expected to be an issue. Felix has publicly expressed a desire to play in the competition and his current team are very unlikely to finish in the top four.

United, meanwhile, could satisfy that demand, and they would have the resources to meet Atletico’s asking price as well. It is a situation that fans should keep an eye on.
