Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen expects the Red Devils to secure victory when they face Wolves at Old Trafford this evening.

The BT Sport pundit is tipping this to be a tight game, with the away side likely to play on the counter-attack, but he believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have the firepower to come away with the three points:

“Manchester United are brimming with confidence. Their patchy home form was given a massive boost in their demolition of Leeds just over a week ago. They take on a Wolves side who despite looking good going forward, are struggling in front of goal. I think Wolves could sit in and play for a point, but if they do, United may just have enough to break them down.”

Owen is predicting a 1-0 win for United, which is an interesting prediction considering their erratic home form this campaign. Having won 6-2 against Leeds in their last match at Old Trafford, they should be in a positive frame of mind heading into the fixture.

However, they have been very inconsistent on their own turf, in stark contrast to their form away from home. A 6-1 defeat to Tottenham, along with losses to Crystal Palace and Arsenal, mean tonight’s game is not easy to predict.

As Owen points out, though, you would have thought that recent victories would give United the confidence they need to secure a favourable result.
