Michael Owen Predicts The Result As United Play Norwich

Ex-Manchester United striker Michael Owen is expecting his former club to secure a narrow victory when they face bottom of the table Norwich this afternoon.

The BT Sport pundit was distinctly unimpressed with the Red Devils’ performance against Everton last weekend, but he feels they will just have enough to see off the Canaries:

“There are big problems right now at Man United. The performance against Everton was shocking in spells, and there’s huge question marks over some of this squad. For all the talent on the pitch last week, they barely created anything. That shouldn’t happen.”

“Every credit to Norwich for the win over Burnley last week. It would have been easy for this side to down tools, but they keep competing in each game. I think Norwich will keep this one tight but, in the end, United will edge it. ”

Owen has gone with a 1-0 win for United, which, on current form, is probably a fair prediction. Goals have been very hard to come by and, unless they can get an early lead at Old Trafford tomorrow, the crowd will probably get on the players’ backs too.

While the news of Erik ten Hag’s imminent appointment has lifted spirits among the fanbase somewhat, the poor performances in recent weeks make it difficult to believe that United will finish the campaign strongly under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

As Gary Neville said at the weekend, it is very much about getting to the end of the season and starting from scratch.
