Former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman believes Manchester United should be doing all they can to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been mentioned as potential destinations for the 18-year-old in recent months but McManaman feels the Red Devils are the club that would benefit most from snapping him up:

“I think United need a centre midfielder of that ilk. Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata are coming to the end of their careers and Paul Pogba may leave. So if there’s one team that needs a player like Jude Bellingham, it’s Manchester United.”

Bellingham was on United’s radar even before he moved to Dortmund last year, but the teenager opted to make the switch to the Bundesliga club instead.

It will, though, take a great deal more than the £25m that Dortmund shelled out on Bellingham in order to bring him back to England. Recent reports suggest that his asking price is close to £90m.

Considering he has such potential though, there is no doubt that he could fill the boots of Pogba if, as expected, the Frenchman leaves Old Trafford at the end of the season.
