Matic And Williams To Start, Pereira On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea

Manchester United will go into the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge knowing they need to get a result in their battle to secure a Champions League place this season.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to recall Brandon Williams in defence in order to give his side more of an attacking threat on the left-hand side. Luke Shaw could, therefore, drop to the bench with Aaron-Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and captain Harry Maguire making up the rest of the back four.

Nemanja Matic is back from suspension, following his red card against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup. The Serbian will likely replace Andreas Pereira in the side, lining up alongside Fred. The likes of Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba are still out of contention.

Matic’s presence will allow Bruno Fernandes to play in a more advanced role behind Anthony Martial. There is some debate over whether Mason Greenwood could get a start, but Solskjaer may opt for experience with Juan Mata on the right-hand side. Dan James’ pace on the counter-attack could come in useful away from home.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea:

De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams, Matic, Fernandes, Fred, Mata, Martial, James
