Mata: United Can Win The League

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata believes it is “just a matter of time” before United are Premier League champions again.

The Spaniard, who signed for United in January 2014 from Chelsea, has been left impressed by Louis van Gaal’s philosophy and warns that United will soon enough become champions again.

Mata, who endured a tough start to life under Van Gaal, eventually established himself as a first team player and one that played a key part in United’s top 4 pursuit. Now the 27-year-old believes the Dutch manager has the strength of character and correct approach to take United right back to the very top.

“I think he’s good. Obviously he has a lot of experience. He has character. He has his philosophy and he follows that philosophy until the end. It’s good for the players.”

“The football that he wants us to play is an attractive football and I love that football so I think it’s just a matter of time.”

Mata also went onto say what his ambitions are, and how he longs for the Premier League title himself:

“What I want is to win the Premier League. I was lucky enough to win so many trophies [at Chelsea] but I didn’t win the Premier League and it’s something that I have in my mind.”

“I want to win it and I want to play good football with Manchester United, to show that we are still there and fighting for every title. With good football I think we can do it.”

“We need to win more games. I think we have a good team. Obviously I’m sure the club will try and sign a few players to make the squad even better.”

“I think we have first-level world-class players and a very good manager so we have everything to succeed. We have to do it now and bring the club back up to where it belongs.”
