Martial, Wan Bissaka, Varane To Start, Maguire And Malacia On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Play City

Manchester United should be in confident mood heading into the derby against City on Saturday afternoon.

While their opponents suffered a shock defeat to Southampton midweek, the Red Devils eased to a 3-0 victory over Charlton to progress to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. The two teams are now in very different places compared to when they last met back in October.

In terms of the team that Erik ten Hag will select, David De Gea will return in goal after being rested for the Charlton game. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to replace the injured Diogo Dalot at right-back, while Luke Shaw is set to come in for Tyrell Malacia on the opposite flank.

Captain Harry Maguire is likely to be benched in favour of Raphael Varane, with Lisandro Martinez due to line up alongside the Frenchman in the centre of defence.

Ten Hag has favoured a midfield trio of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes for big matches, so the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred will have to be satisfied with being substitutes.

Up front, Anthony Martial is likely to lead the line, with Antony on the right flank and the in-form Marcus Rashford starting from the left wing.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face City:

De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Eriksen, Fernandes, Casemiro, Antony, Martial, Rashford
