Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit claims that Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has similar characteristics to Bukayo Saka.
Speaking exclusively to Man U News on behalf of Casino Utan Spelpaus, Petit said that he is a “huge fan” of the 22-year-old who has a very big future ahead of him:
“Amad Diallo, he reminds me of Saka when he first started with Arsenal. The way he plays, his personality, the quality, his movements, the flair he’s got into the pitch, the linking up he can bring to his teammates and the combinations. What an exciting prospect!”
“You can see that every time he touches the ball, his teammates want to give it to him again, and again and again. That’s the mark of a great player when your teammates trust you and want to get you on the ball all the time. So, I’m a huge fan of his.”
Petit believes that Amad is the type of player who gets you off your seat when you sit and watch a game:
“It’s hard to say that for me because I love Arsenal, but I’m very excited when I watch this kind of players on the pitch, and you put your loyalties to one side if you love the game like I do. Amad has an amazing future.”
“A player like Amad is the reason why fans pay to watch football. Players like Amad are why you go to watch football in the stadium, why you watch games in front of your television. Players like this can bring out emotions, and they’ve got this winning mentality. I love him.”
Amad Diallo’s season so far in numbers
The forward has been given a lot more opportunities to show what he can at United over the last six months. Even before Erik ten Hag’s departure, he had been impressive, scoring a goal and an assist in his first four league appearances this campaign.
However, things have moved up to another level since the arrival of Ruben Amorim as head coach in November. Amad has racked up 5 goals and 5 assists following the Portuguese coach’s appointment and he seems to be going from strength to strength in a Reds shirt.
United have secured his long-term future
The Red Devils announced last week that the Ivorian has signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2030. They also included an option to extend his stay for an additional year.
When you look at his performances this season, Amad is more than deserving of his new contract and, based on Petit’s remarks, there is likely to be a lot more to come from him.
