Manchester Unuted fans outraged as Cristiano Ronaldo voted ‘club’s best ever player’

Manchester United fans have been left bemused by the result of a poll which named Cristiano Ronaldo as the club’s best ever Premier League player.

The poll – voted for by fans – was put out by United earlier this week to mark the club’s 1000th ever Premier League game.

Fans were also asked to vote for the club’s best ever goal, game and save.

Taking the award of United’s best ever goal in the top flight was, not to surprise, Wayne Roone, for his phenomenal overhead kick against rivals Manchester City back in 2011.

City were again involved when it came to United’s best ever Premier League game, with the winner being voted as the Red Devil’s 4-3 victory over their neighbours in 2009, when Michael Owen notched a last-gasp winner to hand Sir Alex Ferguson’s side all three points.

Best save? No contest. David de Gea’s sublime 2012 stop from a Juan Mata free-kick.

Cristiano Ronaldo took home (so to say) the most coveted prize of being named the club’s greatest Premier League player.

Ronaldo scored 118 times in 292 appearances for the Red Devils between 2003-2009, including an astonishing 42-goal haul in 2007/08 when he scooped his first of five Balon d’Or awards.

The Portguese star lifted the Premier League title three times during his time at Old Trafford, as well the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Brilliant achievements, the club’s greatest ever however? Not according to this lot anyway. They must have missed the survey …
