Thanks to FiveThirtyEight, we’ve been able to put together this list of each Premier League club’s predicted finish. Where do you think Manchester United will end up at the end of this campaign?

FiveThirtyEight has offered predictions which spell bad news for fans of Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton. Despite this, fans of both Manchester clubs may find the predicted table to be encouraging reading.

Please note that these are only predictions and have no bearing on the actual Premier League season. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

20) Bournemouth

Bournemouth are expected to finish bottom of the league, although only on goal difference. It’s been a tough season for interim manager Gary O’Neil’s men and FiveThirtyEight expects it to get even worse. Despite the team’s response after Scott Parker was fired the Cherries still look to be in trouble.

Predicted points total: 33
GD: -38

19) Southampton

Southampton endured a turbulent beginning to the campaign – an underwhelming summer window where they brought in unheralded young signings and the sacking of Ralph Hasenhüttl left them in a state of limbo. They’ve since brought in Nathan Jones from Luton Town, but FiveThirtyEight expects them to be relegated regardless.

Predicted points total: 33
GD: -29

18) Wolves

FiveThirtyEight expects a season of misery for Wolves. Despite hiring former Real Madrid and Spain coach Julen Lopetegui to replace Bruno Lage and their recent investments in playing staff, they are still predicted to finish within the relegation zone.

Predicted points total: 34
GD: -27

17) Everton

Everton fans have been discontented with their teams recent performances, to say the least. While Frank Lampard appears to be hanging by a thread, FiveThirtyEight expects the Blues to beat the drop – just. With many players not delivering Demarai Gray has been a shining light for the Toffees finally delivering on his promise.

Predicted points total: 34
GD: -24

16) Nottingham Forest

Big spenders Nottingham Forest may be ultimately disappointed with this finishing position. Regardless, Steve Cooper’s men are expected to beat the drop as his ability to coach teams and improve them is starting to deliver results despite their recent embarrassing FA Cup exit.

Predicted points total: 35
GD: -36

15) West Ham

West Ham United are an eclectic team – you never really know how good they’re going to be at the start of a season. Despite this, FiveThirtyEight is predicting a below average finish for the Hammers this year but you still expect them to improve at some point after the quality signings they made in the summer.

Predicted points total: 41
GD: -12

14) Leeds

Leeds are expected to beat the drop for another year in the Premier League. However, a return to the glory days of Don Revie still seem like a lifetime away at Elland Road. Jesse Marsch who played 14 seasons as a midfielder in Major League Soccer and famously tussled with one David Beckham seems to be getting the backing of the Leeds hierarchy and if Patrick Bamford comes back to form then you can expect Leeds to go up the table.

Predicted points total: 41
GD: -14

13) Leicester

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers seemed to be on his way out of Leicester after a miserable transfer window where they basically sold players and brought in only one – however, an upturn in form could have saved the Foxes’ season. FiveThirtyEight believes it will be more than enough for them to stay in the Premier League this season.

Predicted points total: 42
GD: -9

12) Crystal Palace

Patrick Vieira’s managerial career is proving to be a modest success so far at Crystal Palace as his team seem to be contending in almost every match. FiveThirtyEight expects them to stay in the Premier League comfortably againthis year.

Predicted points total: 45
GD: -17

11) Aston Villa

Despite a disastrous start under Steven Gerrard, the Villans have gone from strength to strength under Unai Emery. Despite a recent FA Cup embarrassment, their league form is expected to keep them afloat this season as Emery clearly learned from his Arsenal experience.

Predicted points total: 50
GD: -6

10) Fulham

Marco Silva’s Fulham have surprised plenty of pundits this season. While many tipped the Cottagers for relegation, they’ve stepped up to the mark and proven that they belong in the highest tier of English football as Aleksandar Mitrović is showing the whole footballing public that he can score in any League.

Predicted points total: 51
GD: -4

9) Brentford

Brentford are another team that have subverted expectations this season. Thomas Frank and the Bees have collected several big name scalps this campaign, including Manchester United and Liverpool and the Danish manager has been rewarded with a significant contract extension.

Predicted points total: 53
GD: 0

8) Chelsea

Nothing can seem to go right for Chelsea at the moment. The Blues often look outfought and out-thought by their opponents – it has been a torrid start for Graham Potter. With injuries mounting and while the club are buying players they are all younger talents who are unlikely to be able to help Potter this season.

Predicted points total: 59
GD: 8

7) Brighton

Brighton are currently having the season of their lives. Not only do they occupy a high position on the Premier League table – they’ve also looked good value for it. The likes of Leandro Trossard, Pascal Gross and Alexis Mac Allister have propelled them into the top half of the league and new boss Roberto De Zerbi has picked up where Graham Potter left off.

Predicted points total: 61
GD: 15

6) Tottenham

It hasn’t been the best of seasons for Tottenham. Antonio Conte’s men have often struggled to break teams down – according to FiveThirtyEight. Despite doing their transfer business early in the summer window it has been a tough season for Conte with the loss of two close friends. They are predicted to finish outside of the top four.

Predicted points total: 64
GD: 18

5) Liverpool

Finishing just outside of the Champions League spots (on goals scored) is Liverpool. Suffice to say, this season has fallen well short of the standards that Liverpool have set for themselves in recent years. The lack of energy in midfield and several uninspired performances has led the Reds to a position of uncertainty. Darwin Nunez is clearly a talent but needs to settle in the PL.

Predicted points total: 69
GD: 31

4) Newcastle

Newcastle, now one of the richest clubs in the world, have put their new found millions to good use. They haven’t spent flagrantly, instead investing in lesser-known players who they can develop into stars. Players such as Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes are two good examples of this. How far can the Magpies go under experienced boss Eddie Howe?

Predicted points total: 69
GD: 31

3) Manchester United

Although several naysayers forecasted doom and gloom at the season’s beginning, Manchester United are expected to finish third in the Premier League according to FiveThirtyEight. It has not been the most stable of campaigns at Old Trafford – the arrival of a new manager and the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo have undoubtedly rocked the boat. This aside, the ship appears to be steadying.

Ultimately, United fans will most likely be happy with a finish in the top four. It allows the Red Devils to maintain stability and carry it into the next season, where they can mount a more concentrated title challenge.

Predicted points total: 71
GD: 18

2) Arsenal

Many will be shocked to see this – FiveThirtyEight expect Arsenal to lose their lead at the top of the Premier League table. While this would be a massive turnaround, it is not completely out of the question. Regardless, to lose the league title at this stage would be heartbreaking for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta does not know when they will have this chance again after such a good start.

Predicted points total: 83
GD: 42

1) Manchester City

United fans, cover your eyes – FiveThirtyEight expects Manchester City to win the Premier League yet again. Of course, they’ll need to surpass a very impressive Arsenal team – however, with Erling Haaland up top and Kevin De Bruyne supplying him, anything is possible. Pep Guardiola’s side have won the title after being 7 points behind on a couple of occasions in recent years so you can see City coming from behind to win again.

Predicted points total: 84
GD: 55
