Manchester United Weigh Up January Moves For Two 32 Year Old Centre Backs

Manchester United are weighing up moves for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin and Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, according to the Mirror.

Godin was a target in the summer but the Uruguayan veteran opted to remain at the Wanda Metropolitano instead.

However, his contract expires at the end of the season, and United are reportedly watching negotiations very carefully in case they can swoop in for the 32-year-old during the January transfer window.

In Cahill’s case, multiple reports in England have indicated that the Chelsea captain will be available on loan for the second half of the season.

The 32-year-old has become a peripheral figure under Blues manager Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge, having made just one substitute appearance in the Premier League all season.

With the England international’s own contract expiring in the summer too, the player could be signed up on a free transfer in July if he performs well during a loan spell.

United manager Jose Mourinho is looking at possible defensive reinforcements after a poor start to the season which has seen his side concede 21 goals in just 12 league games.
