Manchester United vs Liverpool: Predicted XI

After a week of international football, the Premier League is set to return today. The tale of the tape is certain to involve Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford. Both sides are level on points in the league after having rather dull starts.

The big news this morning is that Wayne Rooney could miss out, meaning Anthony Martial could start his United career in the biggest game of all.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News, Rooney has suffered a hamstring injury and will be unavailable for the game, he is also a doubt for the Champions League tie against PSV.

Michael Carrick is also set to miss out after suffering an injury whilst away on international duty with England.

As for Liverpool, they will be without Coutinho, Henderson and Sturridge, through suspesion and injury.

There could be a start in goal for David de Gea. The goalkeeper penned a new deal this week and now could be in line for his return between the sticks.

Here’s how we think United will line up against Liverpool:

De Gea

Darmian – Smalling – Blind – Shaw

Schweinstiger – Schneiderlin

Mata – Herrera – Memphis

Martial

We can see Marital making his debut today for Manchester United, despite Van Gaal insisting he will ease him into the action. Fellaini is also an option up front, along with the wanted man James Wilson. Marcos Rojo could be in contention to start.
