Manchester United vs Ipswich: Player Ratings

Manchester United are through to the 4th round of the Capital One Cup after overcoming Championship side Ipswich 3-0 last night. The Red Devil’s will face yet another high-flying Championship side in the 4th round, Middlesbrough.

United were expected to field various youngsters during the game, but it was their opponents who made 11 changes to their side. The Red’s started with a strong line-up, with just one reserve player making the squad. Andreas Pereira was that man, and he marked his debut with a wonderful goal.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring mid-way through the first half, overpowering the Ipswich defence and calmly slotting the ball past Bialkowski. It proved to be the only goal of the fist half.

With the second half under way, United found themselves under a slight bit of pressure from Ipswich, who weren’t wiling to give up the tie without a fight. That was until Andreas Pereira stepped up to take a free kick, which he curled into the bottom right – doubling United’s lead and putting Ipswich all but out of the game.

Substitute Anthony Martial continued his fairytale start to life at Manchester United, scoring with one of his first touches of the ball. The finish was as cool as you like from the 19-year-old, who once again showed immense composure to fight off two defenders and slot the ball home.
