Manchester United vs Derby: Team news and predicted starting XI

Everything you need to know about the Carabo Cup third round clash

Jose Mourinho will meet former star player Frank Lampard tonight when Manchester United welcome Derby to Old Trafford.

Lampard took over as Rams boss during the summer, and has enjoyed a fine start to life at Pride Park, winning 16 points from nine games in the Championship to take his side to sixth place.

The former Chelsea star however will face his biggest challenge yet in United, who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-1 draw to Wolves at the weekend.

With Mourinho keen to avoid an upset, it is likely some of his big boys will be display, however the Portuguese boss is also likely to accommodate for a few changes in order to rest up some of his regular starters.

Diogo Dalot is expected to start after having impressed on his debut in last week’s Champions League win over Young Boys, while Ashley Young and Phil Jones could also come in at the back. Sergio Romero replaces David de Gea in goal.

In midfield, Paul Pogba is likely to miss out in favour of either Andreas Pereira or Scott McTominay, but Nemanja Matic will return after sitting out Satruday’s clash with Wolves through suspension.

Anthony Martial and Juan Mata are most likely to start either side of Romelu Lukaku up-top.

Injury News

Jose Mourinho confirmed Ander Herrera is fit and ready to return to action following his injury against Burnley earlier in the month, however Marcos Rojo remains unavailable.

Suspensions

Marcus Rashford will serve the last of his three game ban following his red card against Burnley.
