After a damaging defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday, Manchester United will be looking to pick themselves up as they take on a dangerous Brentford team on April 5.

The Red Devils will be without Donny Van De Beek, Tom Heaton, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen for the game against the Bees. Eriksen is nearing a return to first-team action – however, the game against his old club will come too soon for the Danish dynamo.

On top of this, Casemiro will be absent once again, as the suspension for picking up his second red card of the season continues.

The two teams last met back in August – and it was a massacre. Erik Ten Hag had yet to make a real impression on United, with it being just his second league game at the helm. Brentford were more than happy to capitalise, breaking beyond the Red Devils’ high press time and time again. The game ended 4-0 – United were perhaps fortunate that the scoreline wasn’t even wider than this.

In Manchester United’s last game, they were beaten by Newcastle by a score of 2-0. It was a one-sided affair – Ten Hag’s team created a few chances, but the Magpies dominated the play and thoroughly deserved their victory. United once again looked vulnerable in the absence of Casemiro – they lack a competent backup in his position.

Meanwhile, Brentford played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in their last game, as they took on Brighton. The London outfit looked to be cruising to victory, until Liverpool and Chelsea transfer target Alexis Mac Allister slotted home a penalty late on – forcing them to share the spoils.

United are currently 4th in the Premier League table, while Brentford are in 7th. The Red Devils are just a single point above the team in fifth (Tottenham) – a win over the Bees would pay big dividends in their push for the top four.
