Manchester United V Southampton – Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

Manchester United were very impressive in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night despite being without a number of first-team players.

Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be expected to pick up another three points tomorrow afternoon when they face Southampton at Old Trafford.

The Saints grabbed a vital win of their own midweek after coming out 2-0 winners against Fulham at home. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team are pretty weak away from St Mary’s, though, having picked up just 12 points on the road this season.

United’s injury crisis still hasn’t abated. Juan Mata and Ander Herrera are still recovering from hamstring injuries, along with Jesse Lingard who aggravated his own hamstring issue against Liverpool.

The game this weekend will come too early for Nemanja Matic who will be out for at least another week with a muscular injury. Matteo Darmian (knock) and Antonio Valencia (calf) also remain on the treatment table.

Phil Jones could, however, return to the matchday squad after missing the matches against Liverpool and Palace due to illness. Anthony Martial also has an outside chance of featuring following a groin strain.

Marcus Rashford should be fit enough to start after starting on the bench against Palace due to an ankle problem.

Southampton could have Danny Ings back in the fold tomorrow. The striker has been out with a hamstring injury since the 1-1 draw against Burnley last month.

Mario Lemina (abdominal) and Michael Obafemi (hamstring) are both out of contention for the match.

The bookies see this as a straightforward home win for United. They are 1/2 odds-on at Coral, with a draw 38/11 at 188BET. A victory for the Saints is 7/1 at Betfair.
