Manchester United V Leeds United: Match Preview, Team News And Betting Odds

Manchester United start their season with a relatively tough fixture against Leeds in the Roses derby at Old Trafford this weekend.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have up to eight players absent for the game, which will undoubtedly hinder the Red Devils in their attempts to get their campaign off to a winning start.

Marcus Rashford (shoulder), Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles (ankle) have all been ruled out. Both Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard are doubts after picking up the virus, while Phil Jones is unlikely to be fully fit despite recovering from a long-term knee injury.

Jadon Sancho has only trained with his new team for a few days but he may have to be thrown into the mix despite lacking match fitness. Raphael Varane has still not officially signed for the club so he is very unlikely to be in contention for the match.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has fewer injury problems. Junior Firpo (knock), Jamie Shackleton (head) and Diego Llorente (knee) are his only fitness doubts going into the game on Saturday.

The bookmakers have made the Red Devils the favourites with Betway pricing them at 8/15 odds-on to win. A draw is 7/2 with Bet 365 while a victory for Leeds is currently 5/1 at William Hill.

Predicted Score – 2-1 to Manchester United
