Manchester United V Everton Match Preview And Predicted Starting XI

Manchester United will want to get back to winning ways after a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Jose Mourinho’s side will be playing at Old Trafford again this weekend as they face Everton on Sunday afternoon.

United have a number of injury doubts heading into the game. No less than six players were absent for the defeat against Juve. Alexis Sanchez (adductor), Phil Jones (hamstring), Diego Dalot (knock), Scott McTominay (knock), Marouane Fellaini (groin) and Jesse Lingard (groin) all were missing.

Marcos Rojo is back in training but hasn’t started so far this season so he’s unlikely to be picked in the starting line up against the Toffees. Captain Antonio Valencia is also back in contention and will provide another option to Ashley Young at right back.

There have also been question marks over Romelu Lukaku’s recent form. The Belgian hasn’t scored at home since March, and it will be interesting to see if Mourinho decides to bench the striker.

For Everton, manager Marco Silva is still without long-term injury absentee James McCarthy, although the Irish international is close to a first-team return following a broken leg he sustained against West Brom back in January.

Yerry Mina could also feature after returning from injury to make the bench last time out against Crystal Palace. The £27m summer signing from Barcelona has yet to make an appearance for his new side.
