Manchester United V Cardiff City: Match Preview, Predicted XI And Betting Odds

The final game of the season is a dead rubber for both United and their opponents. It’s a fixture which both sets of fans will want to get over and done with as soon as possible.

United will head into the match with up to six players out injured. Sergio Romero and Jesse Lingard both have knee injuries, while Alexis Sanchez sustained an ankle knock in the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield.

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly still struggling with a hamstring injury which kept him out of United’s last game, and Eric Bailly (knee) won’t feature again this season.

Captain Antonio Valencia could make his final appearance for the club this weekend, but much will depend on his fitness ahead of the match at Old Trafford.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will likely give opportunities to a number of young players with Angel Gomes, Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, Dylan Levitt, Arnau Puigmal and James Garner all having trained with the senior side this week.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Cardiff:

De Gea, Dalot, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw, Herrera, McTominay, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood, Chong

For Cardiff, Neil Warnock may also look to experiment after his side’s relegation was confirmed against Crystal Palace last weekend. He has six players out injured with Sol Bamba (knee), Matthew Connolly (ankle), Joe Ralls (hamstring) and Calum Paterson (ankle) all ruled out.

Harry Arter is also a major doubt due to a calf strain while Victor Camarasa could also miss the game due to a dead leg.

Cardiff City’s Predicted XI:

Etheridge, Peltier, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Bennett, Mendez-Laing, Bacuna, Camarasa, Gunnarsson, Hoilett, Niasse

The bookmakers have United as strong favourites for this one. They are 1/4 to get the win with Ladbrokes while a draw is 6/1 at Bet365. A victory for Cardiff is 12/1 with Sky Bet.

Predicted Score – 2-0 to United
