Manchester United V Aston Villa: Team News And Betting Odds

Manchester United rested the vast majority of their first team for the 2-1 defeat to Astana on Thursday night, so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side shouldn’t be too affected by the result when they face Aston Villa this weekend.

The Villans head into the match off a morale-boosting 2-0 home win against Newcastle, but their away form is the worst in the league this season, with just three points from a possible 18.

United are still without Paul Pogba due to an ankle injury but Solskjaer has confirmed there is an outside chance that the Frenchman could play against Tottenham on Wednesday.

Scott McTominay (ankle) is also out for Sunday’s match while Nemanja Matic is continuing to struggle with a knock after failing to take a full part in training this week.

Eric Bailly (knee), Diogo Dalot (groin), Timothy Fosu-Mensah (knee) and Marcos Rojo (muscular) remain unavailable for the first team.

Villa boss Dean Smith has doubts over the fitness of Bjorn Engels (hip) and Matt Targett (illness), while both Keinan Davis (hamstring) and Jed Steer (Achilles) are out of contention.

The bookmakers have United as favourites for the three points with Sky Bet pricing them at 1/2 odds-on. A draw is 7/2 with Betfred while a Villa victory is 13/2 at 888 Sport.

Predicted Score – 2-1 to United
