Manchester United transfer target Youssouf Fofana has rejected any chance of moving to Old Trafford with his preferred destination being AC Milan.
The 25-year-old has his mind set on a move to AC Milan according to Gazzetta Dello Sport and refuses to move anywhere else this summer.
Fofana has told the Italian club that he is ready to reject an offer from United after rejecting advances from Premier League rivals West Ham.
The Monaco midfielder is looking to move this summer, however, as talks with AC Milan are in a stalemate, a deal could be postponed until next season.
Manchester United had been targeting Fofana as an alternative to Manuel Ugarte who they decided not to sign after talks with PSG and United stalled over the midfielder.
Manchester United searching for a midfielder
Erik Ten Hag has been linked with several defensive midfielders this summer as he looks to strengthen in an area of clear weakness.
Apart from Ugarte, Burnley’s Sander Berge has been heavily linked with the Red Devils as reports have emerged that Berge and United have agreed personal terms.
Furthermore, free agent Adrien Rabiot is another name touted for a move to Old Trafford. However, his hefty wage demands and interest from rivals Liverpool have quietened the possibility of any deal.
Kobbie Mainoo needs a midfield partner
Manchester United has a star midfielder in England international Kobbie Mainoo, however, they need to find someone to partner with him.
The Red Devils currently have Casemiro and Scott McTominay who have both been linked with moves away this summer; plus they have fluctuated in form.
Erik Ten Hag is seemingly keen on bringing in a partner for Mainoo in central midfield, but United’s search for a new anchor has been a struggle, a point proven by the recent news on Youssouf Fofana.
