Ex-Manchester United striker Louis Saha has backed his former club to pursue a deal for Victor Osimhen this summer.
The Red Devils have also been linked with Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres but Saha told Best Betting Sites that Osimhen’s style will “suit” Ruben Amorim’s team:
“Gyokeres, Kane and Osimhen have similar profiles; these are the types of names that I want to see Manchester United linked with. Strikers like them bring confidence and numbers. Those guys really believe in themselves, and they know the game and they have the body of work to prove that they are at the very top when it comes to scoring goals.”
“Nobody has ever found a way to stop them from scoring goals. So, when you have that, it brings a lot of confidence for the manager, and they are players that you can completely rely on to make the difference. Gyokeres is playing in the Portuguese league, but he has not played in the Premier League yet. He did brilliantly when he was playing in the Championship for Coventry, but he’s not proven in England’s top division.”
“I still think that Osimhen for me has this kind of ‘je ne sais quoi’, as we say. He’s a very confident lad, he’s this old school No. 9, and most of the time he’s very, very cold and deadly in front of goal. So, I like his style and I think he will suit Man Utd.”
How much would Osimhen cost?
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has recently confirmed that the Nigerian’s release clause is between €70m (£58m) and €80m (£66m), and Napoli will look to sell him when his loan spell at Galatasaray expires at the end of the season.
Some reports have suggested that United have sent scouts to Turkey to keep tabs on Osimhen in recent weeks. The forward has found the back of the net 19 times in 24 appearances for his current club.
United may have competition for the striker
Osimhen’s availability will inevitably attract the interest of other teams. Chelsea tried to sign the 26-year-old back in August last year before the deal collapsed. It is possible the Blues will revive their interest.
Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the player although the Gunners are said to be prioritising a move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.
