Manchester United Sent Scouts To Watch £200,000-Per Week Striker Amid PSR Concerns

Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen as they are interested in a summer transfer.

United are looking ahead to their first summer transfer window with Ruben Amorim as their manager as they aim to improve their squad to fit his 3-4-3 system in the future.

They come off a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, in which they weren’t able to score a goal for the second consecutive Premier League game.

The Red Devils have netted just 28 goals in 25 games this season, and are currently 15th in the Premier League table, and are the fifth-lowest scoring team in the division.

It means that United will likely want to sign a striker during the summer transfer window, and reports suggest that they are eyeing up Victor Osimhen.

Manchester United send scouts to watch Osimhen

Reports have emerged suggesting that United are keeping a close eye on Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at the Turkish side from Napoli. They have previously been linked with the Nigeria international, alongside Chelsea, Arsenal and PSG.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United sent scouts to watch Osimhen in a recent league game between Galatasaray and Rizespor, in which the striker scored twice.

It has taken his tally for the season up to a total of 19 goals in just 24 games for the Turkish side, sparking the interest of top Premier League clubs.

PSR concerns could halt any United deal for Osimhen

Despite the fact that Manchester United are scouting the striker, it could be difficult for them to land a deal for him due to his hefty wage bill.

Osimhen is currently on £200,000 per week, and won’t likely reduce his wages in order to move to a team that won’t be in the Champions League next season.

Furthermore, he has a £65m release clause, and United are already in a poor position in terms of PSR, due to the sheer amount of money that they have spent in the past few seasons on new players.

If Manchester United were to make a move for Osimhen, they would likely have to sell some ‘homegrown’ players such as Marcus Rashford (permanently), Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in order to make some ‘pure profit’.
