Manchester United ‘Ready To Pay’ Striker’s £62m Release Clause Amid £13m-Per Year Salary Claim

Manchester United are reportedly ready to pay Victor Osimhen’s £62m release clause to bring him from Napoli to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils already look close to securing the signing of Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha, who would likely play for Ruben Amorim’s side in one of the number 10 roles behind the striker.

However, despite scoring in their 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, Rasmus Hojlund has been poor this season, meaning that United are likely to sign a striker to replace him ahead of the start of next season.

They have been linked to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for some time, alongside the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, however, reports in Italy now suggest that United are ready to pay for Osimhen.

According to TuttoJuve, Manchester United are willing to trigger the £62m release clause in Osimhen’s contract to bring him to Old Trafford this summer. The report also claims that they have offered the Nigerian an annual salary of £13 million. (£250,000 per week).

Osimhen is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, but Napoli are expected to sell him permanently this season. He has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe this season, netting 22 goals in 26 league games.

Manchester United also have an alternative target to Osimhen

The Nigerian isn’t the only striker that has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks, as Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is also a target of Amorim’s.

They are likely to sign one of Delap or Osimhen, with Delap having had less experience in the top leagues, however the Ipswich number nine is significantly cheaper, as he will have a £30m release clause in the summer when the Tractor Boys are relegated.

Delap has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, with United touted to be the current frontrunners to sign him.
