Manchester United had scouts in the stands to see Southampton winger Tyler Dibling score his first professional goal on Saturday, according to TBRFootball.
The website claims that the Red Devils, Tottenham, Brighton, Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace all “watched” him in action during the 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.
Dibling is only 18 years of age but he has become a regular starter for the Saints in recent games. He originally caught the eye at the end of August when he provided 2 assists during a 5-3 win over Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.
Manager Russell Martin then handed him his first Premier League start against Erik ten Hag’s side, and he impressed again, winning a penalty after Diogo Dalot fouled him. Andre Onana saved his teammate’s blushes by saving the subsequent spot-kick from Cameron Archer.
Other teams are keeping tabs on Dibling
TBRFootball also report that the teenager is on the radar of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Brentford, along with several German and French sides.
The reason why so many clubs are interested in Dibling is because his contract at Southampton expires next summer. Due to his age, he won’t be available on a free transfer, with any interested party needing to negotiate a compensation package with his club or, alternatively, agree to pay a fee set by a tribunal.
United are on the lookout for an Antony replacement
The fact that Dibling is a left-footed right winger would suggest that the Red Devils want to reinforce their right flank.
It does raise more question marks about the future of Antony. Reports last week had linked United with another player; Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi. We shall see if the club decide to make a move for either player over the coming months.
