REPORT: United ‘Are Working To Try And Conclude A Deal’ For £20M Rated Norwegian Wonderkid Ahead Of PL Rivals

Manchester United are hoping to beat rival Premier League clubs to the signature of Rosenborg attacking midfielder Sverre Nypan, according to TBRFootball.

The website claims that the Red Devils “are working to try and conclude a deal” for the 17-year-old who is attracting interest from right across Europe.

No less than six other English teams are keeping tabs on Nypan, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

TBR report that three Bundesliga sides, two Italian clubs and one French team are also involved.

What do United fans need to know about the midfielder?

Nypan made his senior debut for Rosenborg at the age of just 15, playing the full 90 minutes in a 4-2 win over Jerv in November 2022.

The teenager can play as a No.8, No.10 or even up front if required, having scored 12 goals and contributed 11 assists in 58 appearances so far.

As well as impressing in domestic games, Nypan has performed on the European stage too, having scored 3 times in 3 Europa Conference League qualifiers last season. He also made his first appearance for Norway’s Under 21s back in September.

Nypan is not expected to be sold on the cheap

It is believed that United would need to pay a fee close to £20m (including add-ons) for the Norwegian. That may seem like a lot for someone who has limited experience at the highest level but young players do cost a considerable amount to buy these days.

A comparable player is probably Kendry Paez. The attacking midfielder was signed by Chelsea for a similar price in June last year.

With Nypan having so many clubs pursuing his signature too, Rosenborg will be in a rush to sell him so United have to be prepared to stump up a considerable sum for his services.
