United And PL Rivals Had Scouts In The Stands As £50M Rated Spanish Ace Scored Brace At The Weekend – Report

Manchester United were one of the clubs who sent scouts to watch Porto’s game against Boavista on Saturday evening, according to reports in Portugal.

Newspaper O Jogo revealed that observers from the Red Devils, Manchester City, Brighton, Barcelona, FC Utrecht and Anderlecht were all in attendance.

It is not known which players they were scouting but it is a fair guess that United were there to see Samu Aghehowa.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Ruben Amorim’s side were keeping close tabs on the Spanish international.

Aghehowa would have impressed onlookers with his performance too, having scored two goals as Porto sealed a 4-0 victory.

What do fans need to know about Aghehowa?

The forward formerly went by Omorodion but he has decided that he wants to be known by his mother’s surname instead.

After moving from Nigeria at a young age, he grew up in Seville before being picked up by Granada’s academy. Almost immediately after making his first-team debut for the La Liga side, he was signed by Atletico Madrid and sent out on loan to Alaves.

Aghehowa impressed during his time at the Basque club, attracting interest from several teams last summer – most notably Chelsea. The Blues had agreed a fee to sign the player but complications led to the move collapsing. He ultimately ended up in Portugal, with Porto paying €15m for 50% of his playing rights.

United would have to spend a sizeable sum on the striker

Due to the fact that Porto and Atletico Madrid both own 50% of the player, his asking price is expected to be pretty high.

Some reports suggest Aghehowa’s is worth around €60m (£50m). We shall have to wait and see whether that is a fee United are willing to pay for a 20-year-old with limited experience.
