Manchester United Transfer News Round Up

Manchester United Transfer News Round Up

Here is a quick round-up of today’s leading Manchester United news stories.

TRANSFER NEWS

Our daily transfer round up starts in the only place it can. ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC

Seemingly after showing sadistic joy at teasing the media as to his choice of next club, the enigmatic Swede has scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon, where he will announce his decision. At this stage the betting is he will join Mourinho at Old Trafford in a dream partnership. The United fans are licking their lips at the prospect of seeing this footballing icon in the United shirt and judging by his performance for Sweden vs Wales on the weekend he is certainly looking in top-form. The swagger is returning in time for the Euro’s. What shirt number do you think he will want? I say give him the No.7 shirt and flog it for all its worth.

ERIC BAILLY

The word on the street is that United have had a bid of €40m accepted by Spanish club Villarreal for the 22yr old Ivory Coast Centre Back. A big fast defender his composure on the ball has been questioned, but if he becomes one of Jose’s first signings i am sure this will improve rapidly. Not necessarily the answer we all thought of and i fully expect another Centre Back to join over the summer. If not we will be looking at another season of Phil Jones pulling faces every time he touches the ball.

DE GEA STAYS PUT

Yet more good news rolls in as reports states that Real Madrid will not exercise their right to sign the Spanish keeper for £39m this summer. De Gea who rarely speaks to the press has stated over the weekend his desire to play under “winner” Mourinho. Looks like he will be now staying at the Theatre Of Dreams unless he takes up the role of playing Shaggy in the next Scooby Doo movie.

HIRVING LOZANO

The 20yr old Mexican speedy winger is being heavily linked to a transfer to United. Could be nothing in this rumour but well worth keeping an eye on him at the Copa America. Is he a Mexican or a Mexicant???

CARRICK SIGNS UP

Michael Carrick has extended his stay at the club by signing an one year contract extension. Jose will look to Carrick’s experience (age!) and calm head (slowness!) in helping to bring through the exciting young players we have at the club. Unlikely to play every game, his mere presence will benefit the squad. As long as he isn’t teaching them to play negative football where the ball goes backwards then it’s all good.

GIGGS TOLD TO NAME HIS ROLE

In an effort to keep the club legend he has been offered the option of choosing his own role within the club. I personally feel that a Director Of Football type role would suit Giggs down to the ground. He would be adept at leading transfer negotiations (ok not the financial side, but what player could say no to a legend like Giggs). He is the ideal man to over see the ongoing restructuring of the youth development side at Old Trafford.

I will be doing an article later in the week looking at the new backroom set up so keep your eyes open for that.

MOURINHO TO SELL 13 PLAYERS

A story hitting the interweb earlier was on Goal.com, where it stated that Jose is open to offers for up to 13 players. The report states that players such as Young, Valencia, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, Shaw, Darmian, Blind and Mata could be on their way after Mourinho revealed his transfer plans. All we know is that Jose will have spent the last few months working on his plan to overhaul the squad. Who would you sell and why?
