Manchester United Joined By Premier League Rival In ‘Exploring A Loan Deal’ For £76M Forward – Ornstein

Manchester United will face a challenge from another Premier League team to secure the signature of Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.

The France international is on the market, having fallen out of favour under PSG head coach Luis Enrique.

It is believed that several English clubs have considered making an approach for Muani, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle having been linked, in addition to the Red Devils.

However, The Athletic reporter David Ornstein has confirmed that Tottenham will be United’s main opponents in the race to secure the forward’s services this month.

Muani could be signed on loan

Ornstein claims that both teams are “exploring a loan deal” for the 25-year-old, who was signed by PSG for €90m (£76m) just over 18 months ago.

A purchase clause will need to be included in any move but United are keen to strengthen their options up front without breaking the bank, as they are very much up against it in terms of complying with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

United need to replace Rashford

Although Muani may not necessarily be a like-for-like replacement for Marcus Rashford, the Frenchman is comfortable playing right across the front three.

Rashford is set to leave the Red Devils, with negotiations ongoing with several teams about a potential loan deal. AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have already held talks, in addition to Galatasaray. However, the player is said to be against a move to Turkey.

An agreement with Milan or Dortmund would also hinge on striking an arrangement on Rashford’s salary. Neither team can afford to pay his wages in full so it does appear certain that United will have to partially fund his exit from the club.
