Manchester United are interested in signing Arsenal youngster Max Dowman, according to TBR Football.
The Red Devils have already raided the Gunners to secure the services of Chido Obi-Martin in recent months but it appears they could chance their arm by recruiting another Hale End graduate.
Dowman is playing for the Under 18s despite still only being 14, and his promise has attracted the attention of scouts.
The teenager can’t sign a professional contract yet due to his age so it will be up to him and his parents whether he should leave Arsenal in the future.
What do United fans need to know about the player?
The youngster is an attacking midfielder by trade, but he can also be deployed on the right wing. He had a phenomenal full debut for Arsenal’s Under 18s against Fulham back in March, providing three assists in a 5-2 win.
Dowman has gone on to make 9 further appearances for Jack Wilshere’s side, scoring his first goal against West Brom just a week after the victory over the Cottagers.
The midfielder was handed his debut in the UEFA Youth League this season, and he made an immediate impact once again, scoring on his first outing against Atalanta. He also started versus PSG on Tuesday.
At international level, Dowman has already made his debut for England’s Under 17s, which just demonstrates how highly rated he is.
There will be competition for Dowman
TBR report that United are not the only club keeping a watchful eye on the player. Barcelona tried to sign him in the summer but age restrictions prevented them from doing so.
Chelsea and Liverpool are also said to be keen on Dowman so if he does decide to leave Arsenal, he won’t be short of suitors.
