United Told They Need To Pay £55M If They Want To Seal Double Deal Before Transfer Deadline

Bayern Munich have asked Manchester United to pay £55m for defensive duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, according to ESPN.

The Red Devils lodged a double bid for the pair at the end of last week, but the proposal was knocked back by Bayern, with the offer deemed unacceptable.

Personal terms have been agreed with both de Ligt and Mazraoui but meeting the asking price for the two players has proven challenging.

De Ligt’s valuation alone is reportedly £42.6m plus add-ons, while Bayern are looking to get an initial £12.8m for Mazraoui.

After splashing out close to £95m for Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, money will need to be raised from player sales.

Wan-Bissaka could be on his way out of Old Trafford

The fullback is said to have found an agreement with West Ham on a salary, but the Hammers have yet to reach a similar arrangement with Manchester United over the transfer fee.

Depending on what report you read, Erik ten Hag’s side are looking to get between £15m and £20m for Wan-Bissaka, while West Ham want to pay closer to £10m. The injury that the right-back picked up against Liverpool on Saturday night will certainly not help negotiations progress in the right direction either.

Who else could leave United?

It is believed that the club are open to selling the likes of Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and potentially Casemiro, but suitable offers have not been received for any of these players so far this summer.

The closest to leaving (in addition to Wan-Bissaka) is probably McTominay. Reports suggest that Fulham have offered around £23m for the Scottish international but the Red Devils are holding out for £30m. It’s not a huge gap to bridge by any means but there is no certainty that the Cottagers will return with another bid.
