Tottenham have signed Manchester United target Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich for the rest of the season.
The Red Devils were believed to be exploring a deal for the Frenchman, who the Bundesliga’s official website claims has been “compared favourably with Kylian Mbappe.”
However, Spurs were the team who managed to secure Tel’s services, ahead of several other Premier League clubs including Chelsea And Arsenal. United supporters on X were not pleased by the outcome, to say the least:
We are so screwed as long as the Glazers have some control over the club.

Spurs must be paying a significant loan fee, only way any of it makes sense.

Why did Tel end up at Tottenham?
The 19-year-old had rejected a permanent move to the North London club last week, but he seems to have been happy to join them on a temporary basis to get more game time.
It is likely that United were looking to get an option to buy in their deal with Bayern but the German club failed to play ball. Even so, the fact that he will now be lining up against the Red Devils in a couple of weeks’ time will infuriate fans.
United have weakened their forward line
The Red Devils have allowed Antony and Marcus Rashford to leave Old Trafford, whilst only bringing in Patrick Dorgu, meaning head coach Ruben Amorim now has fewer options up front than he did at the start of January.
Questions will be asked about why player departures were sanctioned if replacements had not been lined up.
