REPORT: United Make £233K p/w Contract Offer To Serie A Ace Who Fabio Capello Tipped To Be The Next Mo Salah

Manchester United hold a “serious” interest in Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to Sport Mediaset.

The Italian TV network have claimed that the Red Devils are “ready” to give Georgian international a five-year contract worth €8m a year “net”, plus a €1m in “easily achievable bonuses”.

Considering that the top rate of tax is 45% in the UK, that would work out at roughly £12.1m a year gross, or around £233,000 a week for his basic salary.

Sport Mediaset say it is not quite as much as the €10m a year net that Paris Saint-Germain offered back in the summer, but it is a lot more than Napoli are willing to pay.

Kvaratskhelia is still locked in contract talks with his current team

Napoli are hoping to convince the 23-year-old to remain in Italy, having refused to negotiate a sale to PSG at the start of the season.

However, negotiations over a contract extension are currently at a standstill with the Serie A leaders unwilling to offer above €6m a year (including bonuses).

That has attracted the attention of United and (more than likely) other teams. Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle have also been credited with an interest in the forward over the past twelve months.

The United target has been compared to Mohamed Salah

Almost immediately after Napoli signed Kvaratskhelia from Dinamo Batumi in the summer of 2022, the player was generating a lot of excitement.

Speaking before his first competitive game in Italy, former England manager Fabio Capello made this remark about the Georgian:

“I am curious to see how Napoli do, especially Kvaratskhelia, who in his movements reminds me of an early Mohamed Salah.”

It’s fair to say that Kvaratskhelia is not quite as prolific as the Liverpool star but he is still an excellent winger who could excel in Ruben Amorim’s front three.
