REPORT: Serie A Star Has ‘Prioritised A Transfer’ To United Over Arsenal As Club Agree Personal Terms

Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee has “prioritised a transfer” to Manchester United, according to CaughtOffside.com.

The website claims that Arsenal remain interested in the Netherlands international but the player has now made it clear that Old Trafford is his preferred destination.

It is believed Zirkzee has agreed personal terms, with the deal now hinging on United agreeing a transfer fee with Bologna as well as commissions with the striker’s agent.

AC Milan were also heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old but Caught Offside report that the Rossoneri have effectively conceded defeat in their pursuit of the player, having moved on to other targets.

How much will Zirkzee cost?

The Dutchman has a €40m (£34m) release clause in his contract but United are still in negotiations with Bologna about how they will pay it.

It should be pointed out that the clause for Zirkzee does expire in mid-August so the Red Devils don’t have a limitless amount of time to get this deal over the line.

What are United’s other transfer plans?

In addition to Zirkzee, Erik ten Hag’s side have been locked in talks with Bayern Munich about Matthijs de Ligt. There is said to be some distance between the two sides’ valuations of the defender at the moment.

United are hoping to secure de Ligt’s signature for a fee closer to €40m (£34m) plus add-ons, while Bayern are looking for at least €50m (£42m).

The player himself, though, is very interested in making the switch to Old Trafford. Personal terms are unlikely to be an issue, but finding a compromise on the fee is crucial.

If they can get agreements finalised for both Zirkzee and de Ligt over the coming days, that would be a big boost for the club heading into pre-season.
