Report Names The £51M Rated Barcelona Star Who Manchester United Want In Exchange For Marcus Rashford

Manchester United are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Madrid-Barcelona.com claims that Barca have “received calls” enquiring about the 21-year-old’s availability from the Red Devils and Paris Saint-Germain.

Lopez hasn’t had a lot of game time under head coach Hansi Flick this season, having made just four starts in the league.

It is believed that Barca could be willing to sanction the Spanish international’s sale if they receive an offer in the region of €60m (£51m).

That may seem like a high amount for someone who is not playing a lot of football at the moment but Lopez does have a promising future in the game, and he won’t be let go on the cheap.

What do fans need to know about Lopez?

The midfielder came through Real Betis’s academy prior to making the switch to Barcelona in 2016. He made his way up through the youth system before joining Linares on loan where he made his senior debut against Merida during the 2022/23 season.

After a successful year playing for the Spanish third-division side (where he scored 12 goals), Lopez came back to the Camp Nou to become part of the first team. Last campaign, he scored 11 goals in 42 appearances, mostly playing as either a No.8, No.10 or on the left wing.

United can offer a player in exchange

Barcelona are interested in one of the Manchester club’s players, Marcus Rashford, and Madrid-Barcelona.com suggest that could hand them the “advantage” in the battle to secure the services of Lopez.

It remains to be whether that relates to some sort of swap deal involving the two players or whether it means Barca will give United more favourable terms for Lopez if they loan them Rashford in return.
