Chelsea are keen on signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to Fussball.news.
The German website claims that the Blues are “prepared” to offer cash plus two academy players in order to secure the services of the 24-year-old.
If that proposal is not accepted, it is believed that a loan bid could be tabled for Sancho, with an obligatory purchase clause and the commitment to pay the player’s wages in full.
Fussball.news go on to suggest that, even though the England international has been reintegrated into the first-team setup this summer, his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag is still “strained”.
Sancho was a substitute in the Community Shield last weekend. He came on for the last 10 minutes and missed a penalty during the shootout defeat to Manchester City.
What has ten Hag said about Sancho’s situation?
In contrast to the claims made by Fussball.news, ten Hag has publicly spoken out about how he has mended his rift with Sancho, having had clear-the-air talks:
“We spoke well. Everyone can make a mistake. We draw a line and move on. his club needs good players and one thing is certain: Jadon is a very good player. I hope it will click and [he can] contribute to our success.”
It should be pointed out, though, that Sancho himself has not made any statements about staying at United.
The United star has more than one suitor
It has been confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano that Paris Saint-Germain have held discussions with Sancho’s agents recently. At this stage, though, PSG have given no indication that they will make a formal bid.
Some supporters have suggested that the winger could be used in a swap deal for Manuel Ugarte but, from the sound of things, Chelsea could be a more likely destination for Sancho.
