Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is favouring a move to Chelsea ahead of Juventus, according to Sky Sports reporters Dharmesh Sheth and Adrian Kajumba.
Providing an update on the website’s transfer blog, Sheth and Kajumba said that there is “a growing feeling” that the 24-year-old “wants to go to Chelsea.”
It is believed that both the Blues and Juve have started discussing personal terms with the player’s camp, with United keen on offloading Sancho ahead of Friday night’s deadline.
There has been a lot of talk that Raheem Sterling could be used in a swap deal for Sancho but Sky claim that the player will be let go no matter whether Sterling moves in the other direction.
Sancho has no future at Old Trafford
Despite seemingly mending fences with manager Erik ten Hag earlier in the summer, it appears that the England international does not feature in the Dutchman’s plans.
Sancho has not made the matchday squad for either of United’s Premier League fixtures against Fulham or Brighton, with ten Hag having suggested that he was left out based on form. You can’t see a way back for the winger at the club.
Which move would suit United?
Juventus are only believed to be interested in a loan at this stage but the Red Devils would only agree to such a deal if a mandatory purchase clause is included.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are seeking a permanent transfer. That would help United financially as it would get Sancho’s wages off the club’s books but the forward may need to take a pay cut if he does move to Stamford Bridge.
There are also question marks as to whether Chelsea can afford to pay a transfer fee. If a player exchange is the only option on the table, United may yet walk away.
