Manchester United are ‘considering’ whether to make a move for Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils need ‘competition’ for Luke Shaw and they have identified his fellow England international as a potential target.
Considering Chilwell is nearly as injury-prone as Shaw, fans on X are pretty unenthusiastic about the prospect of the left-back making the switch to Old Trafford:
Are we high?

Why should we buy a younger injury prone player to replace another injury prone player

The only competition between these two blokes would be who gets to the injury massage table first

Chilwell’s injury record over the last 4 years is woeful
Since Chelsea signed the fullback from Leicester City for £50m in the summer of 2020, he has been sidelined for 103 games.
Chilwell has actually spent 530 days on the treatment table, with 11 different injuries, including an ACL and two serious hamstring tears.
United were after his teammate last summer
Ironically, a year ago, Erik ten Hag’s side were pursuing Chilwell’s left-back rival Marc Cucurella, but a loan deal collapsed before the end of the transfer window.
Considering that the Spaniard has had a phenomenal European Championships, you would think that United would consider making a second attempt to sign him, instead of going after Chilwell.
Chelsea are said to be open to offloading either player, with the Blues closing in on recruiting Renato Veiga from Swiss side FC Basel as a potential replacement.
