PSG has set a £70 million price tag on Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Xavi Simons who impressed in the Dutch side at Euro 2024.
According to the Sun, the £70 million price tag is a minimum for the teams that are looking to sign Simons this summer. Arsenal and Manchester United are also joined by Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig as potential destinations for the attacker.
There is also a chance that PSG decide that they want to keep Simons who is demanding consistent playing time.
The Sun reports that any move would initially be a loan as PSG will have to pay a hefty sell-on fee to Simons’ former club PSV Eindhoven.
Manchester United target Simons demanding first-team football
If the Red Devils are to sign Xavi Simons, they will need to guarantee that they can give him regular first-team football as the attacker wants more minutes than he currently has at PSG.
This past season, Simons spent the year on loan at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga where he played 32 games, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists. The sort of game time that he would demand should United make the move for him.
How would Simons fit into Manchester United’s squad?
The Netherlands international would have to compete with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony for game time.
However, his versatility will give him a big advantage as Simons can play either on the left or right-wing or as an attacking midfielder behind the striker.
Erik Ten Hag has been known to rotate his attacking players around the pitch, something that would suit Simons to the ground should he make the move.
