Manchester United Face Serious Competition To Sign Wonderkid Goal Machine

According to the Athletic, Manchester United are exploring a deal to sign Arsenal youngster Chido Obi-Martin who is set to leave the Gunners’ academy this summer. 

The 16-year-old wonderkid has generated interest from United alongside Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, and stands to be one of the most exciting prospects in the game.

Obi-Martin has already visited Manchester United’s academy according to the Manchester Evening News and is in talks over his possible future with the club.


The striker scored an incredible 29 goals in 17 league games for Arsenal’s U18s side including one game where he netted seven times against Norwich City.

It is understood that Arsenal wanted to keep the 16-year-old, but he has decided to leave London as he is looking for a better scholarship deal.

However, the Dane, who has played for Denmark and England at under age levels, will only have to wait until he is 17 when he can sign a professional contract for whichever club he decides to move to.

Manchester United face heavy competition for Martin

United isn’t the only top Premier League side interested in Martin’s signature as there is a host of teams that want to sign the 16-year-old.

Most notably, Newcastle United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are in consideration by the forward if a deal to his preferred destination of Old Trafford doesn’t work out.

Goalscoring numbers off the charts

Chido Obi-Martin has also put up impressive numbers for his national team. The attacker has scored 10 goals in 14 games for Denmark’s U17s team and three goals in six games for the U16s.

One of the hottest properties in youth football, Obi-Martin could decide to switch his national allegiance to England however he will have to commit to it before he turns 18.
