Romano Confirms Arsenal Defender Was At Old Trafford Last Week With United Labelled As “Favourites” To Sign Him

Arsenal defender Ayden Heaven watched Manchester United play against Rangers last Thursday, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his exclusive column for GiveMeSport, Romano said that the Red Devils are very much frontrunners to secure his signature ahead of next summer:

“United clearly seen as favourites to land Heaven at the end of the season. He was in attendance at Old Trafford on Thursday for [the] Europa League game against Rangers and sources say Barcelona also called to be informed on his situation. However, Man United are confident to make it happen in the next months.”

Heaven is out of contract in June and he is free to discuss terms with any team he chooses.

Arsenal want to keep the teenager

United would not be signing a Gunners castoff by any stretch of the imagination. Mikel Arteta’s side are very keen to retain the centre-back’s services.

Heaven was given his senior debut against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup back in October, and he has also made the substitutes bench for three league games this season.

Romano claims that they have offered the 18-year-old a new deal to keep him at the Emirates but it appears that United are clear favourites at the moment.

It isn’t the first time that United have poached a player from their rivals

The Red Devils managed to seal the signature of striker Chido Obi-Martin from the Gunners back in the summer.

It was a big coup too, considering how many goals the Dane had scored in youth football. The youngster was in high demand but United gave him certain guarantees about his pathway to the first team. It seems they have managed to persuade Heaven in a similar fashion.
