“Many Clubs Were Looking For Him Like Arsenal, Manchester United…” – Agent Of Serie A Star Confirms PL Interest

The agent of Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso has revealed that Manchester United were keen on signing him before he put pen to paper on a contract extension.

Speaking to TuttoJuve.com (quotes translated by TBR), Giovanni Bia said that the Red Devils, Arsenal and Real Madrid were all “ready” to make a move for the Italian international if he had chosen to leave Juve:

“Both parties wanted to stay [at Juventus], there was this common desire, so the economic aspect really counted little for Andrea. We didn’t argue too much, we were happy with the offer we were made and we accepted it.”

“Many clubs were looking for him like Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid, who were ready to do something, but he gave his priority to the Bianconeri.”

United are looking to sign a left-back

While manager Erik ten Hag does already have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia to call upon, both fullbacks have had serious issues staying fit.

In that context, it is not a surprise that the Red Devils were keeping tabs on Cambiaso. He is 24 years of age and can provide cover on either flank as he is both-footed.

Who could the club target instead of Cambiaso?

A couple of names have been circulating. Chelsea vice-captain Ben Chilwell was surprisingly linked with a switch to Old Trafford earlier this month, but there are concerns about his fitness. Considering the problems the club have had with both Shaw and Malacia,  it may be wise to steer clear of him.

The main alternative to Chilwell is said to be Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. Club scouts have been watching the Hungarian international for several months but the big issue with him would be his price tag. The Cherries reportedly want at least £40m.
