Former Manchester United forward coach Benni McCarthy has revealed that Rasmus Hojlund was not the club’s top target during the 2023 summer transfer window.
The Denmark international has struggled since sealing his £72m switch to Old Trafford from Atalanta, having scored just 2 league goals during his second season with the Red Devils.
McCarthy, who was part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team until the end of last season, says that there were at least three other forwards in the running to become United’s first-choice No.9.
