Manchester United face a huge match-up at the weekend as the Red Devils make the short trip to the Etihad to play Manchester City.
The game will mark the first iteration of the Manchester derby this season and hands Ruben Amorim a chance to get his second win of the season against Pep Guardiola.
Amorim’s Sporting CP side beat City in a Champions League game, winning 4-1 in a game where United and Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres scored a hat trick.
United come off the back of a 2-1 win against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League where Rasmus Hojlund scored both goals.
Amorim will hope to carry the win into Sunday’s game and get back to winning ways in the Premier League.
The United manager will be delighted with his squad’s fitness however, as he could only be missing up to two players against City this weekend.
Luke Shaw has been ruled out of the game with a calf injury, he said recently: “Unfortunately, I’ve had a small setback. I’ve been through a lot, but this has definitely been my toughest period. I’m absolutely devastated, and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.”
Defender Jonny Evans is a doubt for the match as he could return from his injury, if not, Evans will likely become available in United’s next game against Tottenham on Thursday.
Manchester United backed to lose in derby match
The Red Devils are no doubt on paper, the underdogs against City. However, Pep Guardiola’s side have only won one game in their last 10 matches.
According to Oddschecker, United are backed to win at odds of 17/4 which gives them a 19% chance to win on Sunday.
City are backed to win at 3/5 giving them a 62.5% chance of victory and a draw is backed at 37/10 (21.3%).
We predict a 1-1 draw in an entertaining affair where both teams struggle to take chances to win the derby at the Etihad.
